Contego Original formula Intumescent fire resistaive coating protects your home and family. Contego Original formula is a latex, water-based coating that can be applied like paint to virtually any type of building material and provides ZERO flame spread and smoke production. When exposed to high heat or fire, Contego Original thin film coating swells or intumesces, forming a tough char barrier that stops the fire from spreading and smoke from growing. Contego Original Intumescent coating can be used for application on home walls and frames to protect kitchens, nurseries, garages, bathrooms and bedrooms. No volatile organic compounds (VOCs) - non-toxic smoke during a fire. Provides zero flame spread and smoke production. Contego Original provides the best adhesion of any intumescent coating and applies just like regular paint. One gallon will cover 60 square feet. You may top coat for physical protection, color and decoration. • Contego Original is a latex single componet, water-based coating that can be applied to virtually any type of building material and provides zero flame spread and smoke production. When exposed to high heat or fire, Contego Original thin film coating swells away from the surface to block oxygen and slow fire spread.
• Applies like regular paint, so is easy to apply. Reccomended use within 72 hours of opening the container. You may add a top coat for color and decoration, but coating must fully cure for 72 hours before applying top coat. Contego will protect the paper fascia on drywall while maintaining a flame spread and smoke production rating of ZERO X ZERO.
• Application methods: Spray, brush, roller. For best results apply Contego Origianl with a 2500 PSI, Graco 1095 airless spray equipment or equilvent with all filters removed from equipment. Brush and roll when spray equipment is not optimal. Follow all Contego Application Insturctions.
• You may top coat for physical protection, color and decoration BUT you must let Contego cure (dry) for a minimum of 72 hours before applying a top coat. If a top coat is added before Contego dries, both layers will peel off. Contego will protect the paper fascia on drywall while maintaining a flame spread and smoke production rating of ZERO X ZERO.
